These are a few of my favorite things...

Sorry I have not posted anything new lately. Thanksgiving came and went so fast. Tim and I got sick. I had a crazy week at work and finally it was my birthday! Now that all that is over and Christmas is upon us, I am getting back into the swing of things. Also with the help from my FOUR new cookbooks, I will bring you MORE creations! I will probably be making pies and cookies so be prepared for some yummy treats.

I love the fact that I got so many baking/cooking gifts for my birthday. Besides the four cookbooks, I got a new cookie sheet and a food processor. So exciting. We used the food processor already to chop veggies for homemade Chili. As we were putting it all in the crock pot to simmer for 24 hours, I said we should have taken pictures for my blog! It was tasty and we always freeze half for a few weeks later! The cookie pan and cookbooks will be used soon.

The first one I bought for myself with part of the birthday money from my grandparents. It was on clearance at Marshalls...for $3! This cheap fun little cupcake cookbook looks really fun. I cant wait to try it out!

The next cookbook gift I got was from the book fair at work! This cupcake cookbook is a little bit more advanced but looks amazing! I cant wait to try my hand at some of these but I don't know if I will want to eat them!

Then my final two were given to me by my oldest best friend Sara. Ive known her since I was 12 years old. She has always inspired me to be a fresh, homemade cook. She also has been baking a lot recently and uses both of these cookbooks as well. Now I have my own copies and don't have to call her up to bug her for recipes! Thanks Sara!!!!

Baking with Julia is fabulous. I have been reading it each night since I got it. That's right, reading it. It had many advanced baking techniques but everything looks sooo delicious. I am excited to start attempting some of the best recipes around.

I have eaten a couple of pies from this book. I have even made one that I loved (got the recipe from Sara's copy) a few months ago. The pies in this book are easy to make and so good. I actually made my first successful pie crust when I made the summer berry pie from this book. There are so many good looking pies in here that I want to make. Good thing Christmas is coming up and I have an excuse to make them!

All these great gifts I got will also benefit YOU because in the next few weeks I will be baking and more baking! Getting ready for the holidays are great! Check back soon!

katie, reading your blog has inspired me again to get more creative and enjoy cooking at home once again. for a while I hated cooking at home, but I am starting to enjoy it and it is a great stress reliever. I am thinking of starting a blog as well.
